Documentary photography is a well used phrase when it comes to wedding photography, something that I specialise in. Having spent 12 years working and developing as a photographer I feel I have a good grasp of this facet of my photography, It’s not just about people, but the subject of your photograph. How it is composed with the surroundings and how your subject interacts with them to make a good picture. My style has evolved over time as I use other components to add to my images, but the core skills of a documentary style still prevail.

Events have changed a lot over the years but as a photographer the same aspects still apply, be at the right place at right time. Simple! It’s not as spontaneous as that, but it can be. I’ve covered events varying from music festivals to World Rally Championship rounds. Surfing to philosophy events & working for major companies, including Red Bull. The key to getting the shot here is detail. Do your homework and understand where you’re going. Its not just about the main event, as important as that is, but the that explains the full story and the build up to the main event is essential.
